Books & Poetry

By Jon P. Fischer

Jon Fischer is more than just a writer of cryptic programming languages who few can read and fewer can understand.  For many years, I have also enjoyed writing both full length books as well as poetry.  I have not pursued having anything professionally published at this time, however it is an ambition I intend to follow in the future.  For now this page will be the official outlet for writings by my hand.  Check back periodically as I hope to update the page often and if you like my writing, please let me know by leaving a note in my guest book.  Any author enjoys hearing all sorts of feedback on their work.

Special Annoucement:

River Runners - Special Edition Manuscript available now in PDF electronic from.  A portion of the proceeds from sale of these manuscripts will be donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.  Half of all collected sales of the PDF manuscript, which includes a special letter from the author, will be donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation supporting Cancer Research.  I hope to achieve two goals in one, first to find an outlet for this work to be published and read by people around the world, as well as supporting a cause that is close to my heart.

Proceed to the River Runners Special Edition Page for complete details.

Additionally, I intend to build a number of collections of my poetry and offer them as well to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation in the near future.

except him.  When our hero and his friends finish their first year of college, he's
not going to let their plans ruin his summer, or end his life.

Currently Untitled - status: writing in progress
   - Our hero's roommate and best friend is seriously injured in a racing accident.
But when his instincts tell him something else is behind his friend's crash, will he
be able to prove it in time to save both their lives?

Currently Untitled - status: concept only
   - An escape to the tropics of the Caribbean should have meant a week of fun in
the sun, instead the group finds themselves in the middle of a battle between
drug cartels.  With the help of an unlikely ally, they must face these ruthless
men to save the life of one of their friends, but very well could end all of theirs
   in the process.

Currently Untitled - status: concept only
   - A semester after graduating, an invitation to return to his Alma Mater brings
our seasoned hero face to face with the men who started it all.  An encounter
that will alter the course of both their lives forever, and neither for the better.

The Hero Within - status: writing in progress
   - Unable to face his past, but no longer able to run from it, the hermit that was
once a hero has to look past his pain and doubt if he is to set things right once
and for all.  Can he find the strength in his heart to stand up to the men who
seem determined to eliminate him once and for all.  Find out in the first chapter
   of this new series.

Other Full Length Works Currently in Progress by Jon Fischer

Silver Sterling - status: writing has begun (temporarily on hold)
   - a slightly sci-fi futuristic look at the world as it could have been had Y2k
actually crashed the world's computer systems.  Sterling was meant to be the
next leader of a new class of world elite, instead he may just become the savior
   of the civilization.

Barracuda - (Name Subject to change)
   - A young man uses the death of his father as motivation to bring down a
powerful drug cartel in the Caribbean.

Poems:

Last count the number of individual poems written stands somewhere in the 200-300 range.  Many of them personal to me and my past and will not be shown here.  Those that I feel comfortable posting will be up here in time. As stated above I intend to get a database built with these poems and parts of my books built that can cycle them automatically.

Monthly Poem Selection - November 2005

When shall I wake

When shall I wake from this dream
A nightmare that has lasted too long
It feels like I’ve been hit by a beam
My head swimming with the pain of wrong

Alone I stand in a graveyard
My hopes and dreams are buried here
Staggering back helplessly off guard
I find my newest ones already in fear

Sinking through freezing oceans
Fighting with all my ebbing might
Trying to think of the motions
To release the weights I’m trying to fight

Losing my strength too fast
Knowing I must find someone
To help free me of my past
Otherwise I am surely done

- Jon Fischer

Courage’s Wings

A flame’s touch upon the sky
Walls of cold steel melt away
From the glowing ruby embers of my eyes
Courage so strong it never dies

Hurricanes of strength within
A diamond’s vigilance my soul
Pulling the light of love deep inside
Eagle’s wings soaring ocean’s wide

Jon Fischer

Flaming touch throwing rubies into the night
From my eyes the crimson burns
Forever building with an eagle’s flight
I will battle till the evil tide turns

Against darkness this flame’s lit
Alone in a world a single torch up high
Always growing and showing the right
With the strength of wings that fly

Jon Fischer

Evil ways falling to old ways reborn
Where star dancing is child’s play
New hope is born in evil’s shadow

Fear always cowers in the face of freedom
In the eyes of evil a single boy stands above all
He is their future or their fall

Jon Fischer

Power of a Dream

A fog of doubts acid poison seeps
Into the thoughts of a fallen dreamer’s hopes
Like a cobweb of the black widow’s work
Dripping of death’s dark signature

Surrounding the fallen dreamer’s hopes
A crushing wave of freezing doubts
Destroying the will of a wild heart’s vigor
With the numbing sting of defeat’s sharp teeth

With his last breath of dream’s starry sky
Reaching out with frigid clammy hands of anguish
He gripped with all his ebbing staggering strength
A single flickering star of falling hopes and dreams

Holding tight to this one last defense
For if this moment in time is lost to death’s defeat
All dream’s brilliant stars shall distinguish and darkness prevail
Consuming the world in the heat and pain of doubts darkest poison

The star’s own heat starts to mount upon a prayer
Steaming with the white smoke of prayer’s answer
As the dreamer’s hand falls deathly limp and cold
The star slowly falls through space and time

Spinning out of control with dream’s light
The last star collapse endlessly in upon itself
In a brilliant display of total destruction
Pulling all the last glimmers of hope inward still

Suddenly exploding in a gallant reprisal
Streaming outwards, burning clean and bright
A super nova of heavenly stardust created
Seeking every darkened corner of space and time

Striking back at the black widow’s deathly web
Of poison filled doubts that once dripped of pain
Like an acid that consumed so many dismal days
Now with breaking clouds with death’s winds depart

As the dreamer’s last pulse of earthly pulse escapes
He’s struck through his once wild soul’s heart
With the power of everlasting vigorous light
For a dreamer’s will shall never cease
